1. Application Policy

The Innovation Challenge will bring together 20 teams of 5 high school students from the Bay Area. In order to keep the teams balanced and allow participation from students representing multiple schools throughout the region, teams will be assigned by the organizers based on challenge preference, geographic distribution and availability of slots.

When applying, please rank the mental health challenge prompts you are interested in working on in order of preference. You will be notified of your challenge assignment and team members a few weeks before the event. We cannot guarantee you will be assigned your top challenge choices but will make every effort to do so. Apply by April 7th to be included in the lottery system. 100 participants for the event will be selected and you will be notified by April 21st if you are selected to participate. 

II. REGISTRATION POLICY

If you are selected to participate, you will be required to register by April 24th. The two forms available for download below (participant waiver and medical release form) must be scanned and emailed by April 24th in order to participate. III. Awards Policy

Grand Prize:

  • $5000 to the winning team over the course of one year to fund direct project needs

  • $100 gift cards to each team member

  • Minimum of once per month meetings with your group

  • Quarterly meetings with your professional mentor to help develop project

  • Introductions to relevant local experts and community stakeholders

  • Local publicity and/or opportunities to showcase the project.

Other Prizes (a runner-up from each of the challenge prompt categories will be selected):

  • $1500 to runner-up teams within each challenge prompt category

  • $50 gift cards to each team member

  • Company tours
